The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has finally hit the showroom floor, and its a huge improvement over the 2010 model. The 2011 model features a more powerful engine, a bigger frame, more space for passengers, more headroom, and a lower price than its 2010 predecessor, and Jeep is hopeful that this year’s model will sell much better than last year’s. This year’s model features a new 2.6L Pentastar V6, which has 290 horsepower; the downside, however, is that it only gets 16 miles per gallon in the city, and the optional Hemi V8 gets even less. Still, it’s an improvement over last year’s model, which saw even worse mileage performances.

Auto transport companies have already started shipping the 2011 Grand Cherokee, which means that the vehicle is selling; however, how well it sells still remains to be seen. Jeep is trying to compete with Toyota and Nissan in the midsize SUV category, but with the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee it might just be able to, despite both the 4Runner and the Murano getting better gas mileage.
