Nissan just announced its plans to enter the electric car ring, and they are doing it with style.

In late September, Nissan released a sketch of the new luxury electric vehicle they plan to add to their line sometime later this year. The Detroit Free Press reports that the all-new Infiniti EV will be based on the Nissan Leaf, the brand’s first electric car. Nissan announced the Infiniti EV will be, “a stylish, high performance five-seat luxury vehicle with zero-emissions technology.”

The Leaf will be in direct competition with Chevrolet’s new electric vehicle, the Volt.

General Motors announced they may plan to join in the luxury electric car group with a electric Cadillac model.

Infiniti Vice President Ben Poore said the new Infiniti EV “will play a major part of Infiniti’s ‘eco performance’ strategy that will see a greater focus on hybrid and EV technology.”

Our auto shipping companies couldn’t be more excited for these changes, and wish all the companies joining the electric car phenomenon good luck.
