Plug-In Car Race Still Up For Grabs

Auto transport companies have already booked shipments for vehicles that have yet to come out – in this case, plug-in electric vehicles. But so far, there’s no clear-cut winner in the plug-in electric vehicle race, and really, why should there be? So far, the two front-runners are the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf, but the Volt has a major advantage: it has the United States Department of Energy on its side.

However, both vehicles offer pretty much the same things: at home charging stations, similar range, several different models and more, and both still suffer from the same problems, namely the range, the home charging stations, and the ability for customers to not take them on long trips. In other words, both Nissan and Chevy are putting out what is essentially the same vehicle; but wait, don’t Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Chevy, Chrysler, Dodge, and all those others do that too?

It comes down to what consumers want. They want a car that will take them anywhere, at any time, and so far plug-in electric vehicles can’t do that. Yet. But they will soon, or at least that’s what the trends are saying.
