Volkswagen Moves Forward

Volkswagen has made an ambitious goal public, and they seem on the right track to achieve it.

After announcing plans to be one of the largest automakers in the United States by 2018, Volkswagen is making the right moves to get there. VW announced plans to open a $550 million engine production plant in Mexico, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The plant will churn out an estimated 330,000 engines a year. These engines will then be installed into cars built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Puebla, Mexico.

The company will be located in Silao, Mexico. VW chose this location because, “…the area has suppliers and workforce experienced in autos.” Europe’s number one car manufacturer hopes to become a top competitor for the American market, as they once were in the 1970’s. They plan on doing this by selling one million vehicles in the year 2018.

Our auto shipping companies are excited to see how this investment works out for Volkswagen, and to see the numbers actually reached in 2018.
